Duane Lawson passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from a prolonged illness at his home in Stigler, Okla. He lived his whole life in 74 years, 10 months, and 22 days.

Duane Walter Lawson was born July 7, 1938 to Floyd and Ida (Madison) Lawson in Beloit, Wis. He attended school in Alberta, Minn., and graduated in 1957. He was one of eight children; Eleanor Greenway, Jeanette Lawson, Ron Lawson, Gary Lawson, Judy Wood, Roger Lawson, and Doug Lawson.

Together they worked on the family farm and in 1957 he moved to the Minneapolis, Minn., area. His career choice was an automobile mechanic/painter but his passion was in restoration and custom painting. He shared this passion with his children and several of his grandchildren. His career gave him opportunities in many locations around the USA as well as global. Places of employment include: Du-Mar body shop, International Harvester / Hall Equipment, Ledstrom Brothers Farms, Phillippi Equipment Company, Irby Construction Company, Lawson’s Repair, as well as several small sand and gravel companies.

He loved his children but his grandchildren filled his heart with joy. He prided himself on being the first to introduce something of a sugary substance to them regardless their age or the parent’s wishes. His hobbies included his love of animals, horseback riding, cruise night, car shows, board and card games.

He was at Heaven’s gates by his parents, Floyd and Ida Lawson; two infant siblings; brother Ron Lawson; two grandchildren, Jacob and Travis Early.

Those waiting to join him in Heaven are his wife of 36 years Cindy (Holsworth) Lawson of Stigler, Okla.; children Barb Dahm of Waconia, Minn., Bonnie Burgett of Tyler, Texas, Cindy (Robert) Early of Buffalo, Texas, Dennis (Jill) Lawson of Belle Plaine, Minn., Tiffany (Vince) Morris of Kapolei, Hawaii, and Melissa (Andy) Cobbs of Whitefield, Okla.; 17 grandchildren James, Geoff, Jenni, Emma, Evan, Robby, Jordan, Jazlynn, Bradley, Molly, Trevor, Nick, Matt, Luke, Kristin, Brittney, Jessica, and 12 great-grandchildren Karston, Kyler, Isabel, Courtney, Zachary, Jack, Alta, Lilly, Madeline, Madalynn, Kaden, and Harrison.

Memorial service was held Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the VFW Post in Stigler.
