Don’t miss the Waconia Veterans Appreciation Weekend July 12-13

Attention all veterans and community members! Don’t forget about the softball games, recognition program and community picnic that are part of the Waconia Veterans Appreciation Weekend this Friday and Saturday, July 12-13.
On Friday, watch the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team play against Minnesota celebrities at 7 p.m. followed by a meet and greet with the team at the American Legion. On Saturday, the Warriors play the Waconia Fire Department at 10:30 a.m. and post-9/11 area veterans at 1 p.m. All games are played at Brook Peterson Park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
Area veterans are encouraged to take part in a special veterans recognition program that will be held at Brook Peterson Park after the final game on Saturday. Military dress is encouraged but not required. A community picnic with free food follows at 4:30 p.m. at the Carver County Fairgrounds featuring entertainment by the Warrior Spirit Band. All events are free and open to the public. The Waconia Lions Club organized the weekend and they hope to see you there!
