Before the school year concluded in June, the Norwood Young America FFA chapter recognized top students with several end-of-year awards.
Matt Ditsch was given the Ag Accomplishment Award as the top senior from the chapter.  Matt was very active throughout high school in FFA and recently concluded his tenure as chapter president.
Brandon Fabel earned the Star Chapter Degree Award, which is given to the top second year FFA member.
His success in the Prepared public speaking competition, in which he has qualified to compete at the national level, helped elevate him to this award.
The top first year high school member traditionally earns the Star Greenhand Award.
This year’s recipient was Karl Dettmann, thanks to his participation in chapter events, solid effort as a part of the Dairy Foods team, and membership in the Minnesota State FFA Band in the spring.
Beginning this year, the top middle school FFA member will be given the Star Discovery Degree Award.
This year, Caleb Vinkemeier stood out among a strong group of seventh– and eighth–grade members by finishing among the top dairy cattle judges in both the regional and state contests.
In addition to these individuals receiving accolades, many members were given either the Discovery, Greenhand, or Chapter Degrees for completing various stages of active FFA membership.
Now the FFA chapter begins summer work in preparation for the fair season in August.
