Mayer News for July 4

Mayer Rising

Last week I had the line-up for the Mayer Rising Community Festival listed in my news column. There will be many activities happening in the Old School House Park which is located between Zion Lutheran School and the Mayer Community Center.

Mayer Beef Saturday will be July 13 at 1 p.m., which is sponsored by the Mayer Baseball Club.

The tractor, car and cycle show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The craft show with 30+ booths will take place in the community center. Come and browse at the many items and feel free to purchase some if you so desire.

There will be youth activities to keep the younger generation busy. Bring the entire family to the Mayer Rising Community Festival and plan to have a good time.

Mayer Car and Cycle Night

Mayer will have a car and cycle night every week, staring last week Tuesday. This event takes place from 5-8 p.m. Anyone may participate with no charge to you. Just meet on 2nd Street North with your car or cycle. You can enjoy the many specials at Mayer businesses during the auto show. If you have any questions, call Tom at 952-657-2119.

Senior Citizens to meet

Monday, July 8, is the date set by the Mayer Senior Commission for the July pot-luck dinner. This event is for anyone in the Mayer area who is 55 or older. Bring a dish of food to share to be place on the banquet table. Bring a friend to share it with. There are no dues to pay to partake in these meals. You can then stay to play Bunco if you would like. Dinner time is 11:30 a.m. We meet in the Mayer Community Center, which is located on Blue Jay Avenue.

Dates of Importance

Because of the July 4 holiday, there will be garbage and recycle pickup on Saturday of this week. Have bins at curbside by 7 a.m.

The Mayer city offices will also be closed on July 4 for the observance of Independence Day.
