Kurt Winkler, 53, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm as the result of a motorcycle accident.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Deb Bergstrand officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 8 pm Monday and 7:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home North Chapel in New Ulm and continued for one hour prior to the time of service on Tuesday. Kurt is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Lehrmann of Cologne, Mikara Winkler and significant other, Matt Meyer, of New Ulm; son, Chris Winkler of Cologne; step-sons, Tony Helget and significant other, Shannon Russell, of New Ulm, Gary Woratschka and significant other, Afton Witte, of New Ulm; five grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and JoAnne Winkler of Cologne; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pat and Les Helget of New Ulm.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn (Helget) Winkler; parents; sister, Judy Winkler; and brother-in-law, Dale Ringle.
Kurt Winkler was born Jan. 10, 1960 in Waconia to Roy and Bernice (Braunworth) Winkler. He graduated from Central High School in Norwood Young America. On April 11, 1992 Kurt was united in marriage to Dawn Helget in New Ulm.  Kurt enjoyed demos, bowling, motorcycle rides, and spending time with his friends and family.
