St. Boni Library activities

The St. Boni Library offers Summer Children’s Programs on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m.  June 12 – July 24 in the St. Boni City Council Chambers. Master Gardener Help Desk
The Carver/Scott Master Gardeners have a help desk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday until Labor Day at the Waconia Public Library. No fee, just come and ask questions or bring a sample of a problem.

Veterans Weekend
JULY 12-13 – The Waconia Veterans Appreciation Weekend will be held on Friday and Saturday. See the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team play against MN celebrities at 7 p.m. followed by a meet and greet event at American Legion on Friday. Warriors play Waconia FD at 10:30 a.m. and Waconia area veterans at 1 p.m. on Saturday. All games at Brook Peterson Park. Special veterans recognition program held after final game on Saturday. Community picnic at Carver County Fairgrounds at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Weekend organized by Waconia Lions Club.

St. Boni book sale
JULY 12-13 – The Friends of the St. Boni Library annual used book sale will be held July 12-13 at Old City Hall. Drop off donations of new and used books at the library, 8624 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Mondays and Wednesdays 1-8 and Saturdays 10-3 until  July 10. Info: (612) 543-6100.

Mayer festival
SATURDAY, JULY 13 – Come enjoy the fun at the 7th annual festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include a 200+ car show, indoor craft show, kids jumpers, petal pull and food.All festivities take place at the Mayer Community Center / Old Schoolhouse Park, 413 Bluejay Avenue, Mayer. ArtStock 2013

SATURDAY, JULY 13 – ArtStock returns to Parley Lake Winery and Deardorff Orchards from 1 to 7 p.m. Enjoy live music, arts and nature in an open air gallery at the winery, located at 8350 Parley Lake Road, Waconia. ArtStock is sponsored by the Arts Consortium of Carver County. Attendees may purchase art from a variety of local artists and vendors, tour the winery and the vineyards, enjoy locally produced wines, foods and desserts. Caregiver Support Group

MONDAY, JULY 15 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care have partnered up to provide a Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. Opportunity to meet, talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support! TUESDAY, JULY 16 – The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine and its Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association provide resources and a support group for community members whose lives are touched by Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss disorders. Homeward Bound classes
JULY 22-25 – Homeward Bound Theatre Company to offer performing arts classes Monday through Thursday, July 22-25 at Clearwater Middle School in Waconia. “Mother Goose Tales” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. will have K-2 graders acting out their favorite tales from a time long ago in this fun, whimsical class. “Basic Acting – Just the Beginning” from noon to 1:30 p.m. where 2-4 graders will not need to worry about the “how to” of theatre. The adventure of character dynamics, costuming, basic acting, auditioning and more will be shared through authentic theatre games and exercises. Choir golf scramble

FRIDAY, JULY 26 – The 12th annual Power Company Family of Show Choirs Golf Scramble will be hosted by the Waconia Choir Boosters. Four-person golf scramble held at Timber Creek Golf Course. Cubs’ MIAC Night
