Elvin Albert Mueller, 94, of Norwood Young America, passed away on Sunday, July 7, in Houlton, Wis.
Elvin Albert Mueller was born on Aug. 17, 1918, in Benton Township, Cologne. He was the son of Friedrich and Ida (Rohloff) Mueller. Elvin was baptized as an infant on Sept. 8, 1918, by Rev. Baumhoefner, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 9, 1933, by Rev. M. F. Abraham both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. He attended a country school near Norwood Young America.
On Jan. 4, 1942, Elvin was united in marriage to Luella Zellmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. Elvin and Luella made their home in Norwood Young America. The couple shared over 63 years of marriage, until Luella passed away on March 5, 2005.
Elvin grew up on his family farm and stayed there until he retired from farming in 1969. Then Elvin and Luella moved into Norwood Young America and he worked for American Crystal Sugar Factory in Chaska, and Green Giant Company in Glencoe. Elvin was a lifelong member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America.
Elvin enjoyed fishing and attending auctions. He also cherished the time spent with his friends and family, always having a special spot for his grandson.
Elvin passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013, in Houlton, Wis., at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Elvin is survived by his son, Gordon Mueller of Houlton, Wis.; grandson, Rolland Mueller and his wife, Jodi, of Lakeland; great–grandchildren, Stacie Raasch and her husband, John, of South St. Paul, Jennifer Gow and her husband, Tony, of Summerset, Wis., and Daniel Sanders of Circle Pines; great-great–grandchildren, Jacob Raasch, Katherine Raasch, Tristen Gow and MacKenzie Gow; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernice Kuchenmeister of Chaska and Earl Zellmann and his wife, Beverly, of Plato; and other relatives and many friends.
Elvin is preceded in death by his parents, Friedrich and Ida Mueller; daughter, Gloriann Mueller; brother, Edwin Mueller; and sister, Hilda Fritz.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 16, at 11 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, with interment following at the church cemetery. Rev. David Winter officiated the service with organist Rita Luecke and soloist Lawrence Biermann singing “23rd Psalm.” Congregational Hymns were “Abide, O Dearest Jesus,” “Just As I Am, Without One Plea” and “Amazing Grace.”
Casket bearers were Leonard Haag, Arthur Haag, Willy Neumann, Walter Neumann, Grant Zellmann and Nate Zellmann.
The family invites everyone to the luncheon in the church basement immediately following the committal service.
