Roy Burandt

Roy Burandt passed away June 29, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital; he was 82.
Roy was born on June 9, 1931, in Frazee, Minn., from the union of Walter and Esther Burandt. He spent his childhood in Waconia, Minn., and served in the United States Air Force for 22 years. He served as a Technical Sergeant in Vietnam as an Air Traffic Controller.
He married Theresia Maria Menzinger in Freising, Germany. She preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2007.
Roy was a resident of Grand Junction, Colo., for 16 years and worked in construction as a Tinner for an air conditioning company. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and School of Messiah and the Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard for many years.
Roy was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed gardening and traveling all over the world. He was a loving Christian husband and father and will be deeply missed by his family.
Roy leaves behind four children, a son, Dennis R. (Linda) Burandt of Thornton, Colo.; three daughters, Nancy L. McLaughlin of Golden, Colo.; Monika M. (Tom) Cary of Kremmling, Colo., and Marline S. Burandt and her husband, Lewis Webber of Grand Junction, Colo.; Roy’s companion, Delores Littlefield of Grand Junction, Colo.; a brother, Gordon (Jackie) Burandt of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Mildred Brown of Minneapolis, Minn., and Donna (Reagan) Benedict of Birmingham, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers, and one sister. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013, at the Lutheran Church and School of Messiah, Grand Junction, Colo. Military honors will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at 1 p.m., Monday, July 22, 2013.
