Crown, KleinBank reach naming rights deal for stadium

Crown College and KleinBank recently announced the latest achievement of their nearly 30-year relationship – KleinBank Stadium. The field, opening fall 2013, was made possible because of KleinBank’s sizable donation.
The $2.4 million project will seat more than 1,300, and features state-of-the-art synthetic turf, lights and a press box with full audio and video streaming capabilities. Crown College Athletics includes 11 NCAA Division III teams and belongs to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. The multipurpose stadium, which will also host community athletic events, is being built by Mortenson, builders of more than 100 sports venues including Target Field.
“Our relationship with KleinBank started with an institutional checking account, and flourished because of our shared values – integrity, responsibility, community service and community development,” said Joel Wiggins, Crown College president. “The KleinBank Stadium name reflects our relationship and Crown’s appreciation of their continued support.”
KleinBank provides personal banking services to hundreds of Crown students. The bank has financed Crown’s athletic facility addition in 2000, two dorm buildings in 2001, a new library in 2006 and two dorm remodels in 2012.
“We’re confident that the synergy between KleinBank and Crown College will continue long into the future, as the values of the Klein family are so closely aligned with those of the college,” said Doug Hile, president/CEO of KleinBank. “We are thrilled to be able to assist in the stadium project and be part of their future.”
KleinBank Stadium’s grand opening is 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, when Crown faces Macalester in football. The event coincides with KleinBank’s Community Days, Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 5-7.
