Arb Hosts Chanhassen-Carver County Day Aug. 2

Chanhassen and Carver County Day at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will be Friday, Aug. 2.
On this special day, Chanhassen/ Carver County residents will be admitted free of charge to the Arboretum (upon showing proof of residency at the gatehouse).
Arboretum Director Ed Schneider will welcome city and county officials at a public welcoming ceremony, with complimentary refreshments, at 10 a.m. in the Oswald Visitor Center. Immediately following, free gift bags will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
Special highlights of the day include:
• Summer in Motion: Gophers in the Gardens! See if you can find all 10 Goldy Gopher statues in our gardens and celebrate U of M spirit!
• StoryTime for the young and young-at-heart at 10:30 a.m. in the Oswald Visitor Center.
• Free walking tour of the gardens at 10:30 a.m.
• Or climb aboard a Trumpet Creeper Tram for a tour of Three-Mile Drive, offered throughout the day (ticket: $3).  Or take a ride on the free Circulator vehicle with stops at the Home Demo Garden, Sculpture Garden and Maze Garden. Visitors can also pick up brochures for self-guided tours.
