Come one, come all to the 102nd Carver County Fair, which will be held at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia Aug. 7-11.
The fair always delivers a large variety of food, 4-H exhibits and events, entertainment and other exciting programs and activities and 2013 is no different. Old favorites return — like Vogel’s Pig Races and Petting Zoo, the Sunday church service, and rides and games run by Goldstar Amusements — while new ones are being added, such as the 4-H and FFA Children’s Agricultural Learning Center, appearances by Wildlife Wendy and Her Tropical Birds, Buffalo Creek BMX, a Rock-Paper-Scissors tournament (first prize is $500!) and much more.
The Entertainment Center boasts performances by the Johnny Holm Band, Boogie Wonderland, DiamondBack, Pop Rocks and Livewire DJ and the grandstand offers Buffalo Creek BMX, Motokazie Supercross, a tractor/truck pull and demolition derbies. Many other acts will appear during the fair.
As you prepare for the fair, don’t forget about buying fair bucks. For $100, you receive $125 in fair bucks that are redeemable practically anywhere on the fairgrounds. The fair bucks deal is only available before the start of the fair and they can purchased at the administration building at the fairgrounds.
Admission is $7 for ages 7 through adult. Children ages 6 and under are admitted free. A season pass (five admissions) is available for $30. After 8 a.m. on Aug. 7, the season pass is $35. The gates are open from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day of the fair except for Sunday, when the gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
The exhibit buildings and barns are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day and the commercial buildings are open from noon to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
