Finding a castle in Waconia isn’t easy unless you were at Trinity Lutheran Church & School last week.
Trinity transformed its sanctuary and hallways into a kingdom, complete with a castle and throne, for this year’s Vacation Bible School (VBS), Kingdom Rock – Where Kids Stand Strong for God.
Nearly 400 children royally rocked during upbeat songs, energetic games, and crafts fits for a king. During the Fanfare Finale, the king (otherwise known as Pastor Dave) reminded the children of the Bible lessons. Each day, they learned through biblical examples how God’s love, family and friends, prayer, trusting God, and the Bible helps us stand strong during life’s ups and downs. These truths will be carried with them as they head back to school this fall.
The children also royally blessed kids who are spending time in the hospital and the hungry in our community. Together, they raised $1,767.92 for Belles Blankets, an organization that supplies special blankets to hospitalized children, and donated 690 pound of food to the Waconia United Food Shelf.
The week of royalty concluded with outdoor worship, which included the children singing VBS songs, and was followed by a family picnic.
Did your children miss out on this epic adventure? Mark your calendar for next year’s VBS which will be held July 21-25, 2014 at Trinity.
