Wilmer W. Kroells

Wilmer W. Kroells, age 87, of Cologne, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards with Rev. Adam Westrich officiating; visitation was Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the service at church; interment Church Cemetery.
Wilmer was born on June 12, 1926 in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County, the son of John and Margaret (Eickschen) Kroells.
Wilmer was baptized on July 4, 1926 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg by Rev. A. George Schmid and confirmed on March 17, 1940 at St. Paul’ Evangelical  Reformed Church by Rev. Otto J. Vreisen. On April 22, 1948 Wilmer was united in marriage to LuVern Dietzel at Zion Lutheran Church Benton Township, Cologne by Rev. R.W. Rottmann.
Wilmer farmed south of Bongards for 40 years. He retired in 1988 and moved to what was the Walter and Mae Bruesehofff home southeast of Bongards. Wilmer served three terms on the St. John’s UCC Church Board, was the Building and Improvement Fund treasurer for 30 years, and served on the Cemetery Committee for 28 years.
He enjoyed dancing, traveling, woodworking, and cutting lawn.
Wilmer was preceded in death by his wife LuVern; parents John and Margaret Kroells; sister and brother-in-law Myrtle and Lester Bruesehoff; sister-in-law Mary Ann Kroells; father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Clara Dietzel; brother-in-law Rueben Dietzel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mae and Walter Bruesehoff.
Wilmer is survived by his loving family; special friend Bernice Knick of Glencoe; brother and sisters-in-law Hillard and Alice Kroells, Pearl Bruesehoff of Norwood Young America; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Charles and IIene Dietzel of Cologne, Verona Dietzel of Hutchinson; as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
