Wilmer W.  Kroells, 87, of Cologne passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Wilmer was born on June 12, 1926, in Washington Lake Twp. Sibley Cty. the son of John and Margaret (Eickschen) Kroells.
Wilmer was baptized on July 4, 1926, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg by Rev. A. George Schmid and confirmed on March 17, 1940, at St. Paul’ Evangelical  Reformed Church by Rev. Otto J. Vreisen. On April 22, 1948, Wilmer was united in marriage to LuVern Dietzel at Zion Lutheran Church Benton Township, Cologne by Rev. R.W. Rottmann
Wilmer farmed south of Bongards for 40 years. He retired in 1988 and moved to what was the Walter and Mae Bruesehofff home southeast of Bongards. Wilmer served three terms on the St. John’s UCC Church Board, was the Building and Improvement Fund treasurer for 30 years, and served on the Cemetery Committee for 28 years.
He enjoyed dancing, traveling, woodworking and cutting the lawn.
Wilmer was preceded in death by his wife, LuVern; parents, John and Margaret Kroells; sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Lester Bruesehoff; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Kroells; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Clara Dietzel; brother-in-law ,Rueben Dietzel; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mae and Walter Bruesehoff.
Wilmer is survived by his loving family; special friend, Bernice Knick of Glencoe; brother and sisters-in-law, Hillard and Alice Kroells and Pearl Bruesehoff of Norwood Young America; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and IIene Dietzel of Cologne and Verona Dietzel of Hutchinson; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Bongards with Rev. Adam Westrich officiating. Visitation was Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Casket bearers were Jon Stender, David Kroells, Charles Dietzel, John Bruesehoff, Ronald Kroells and James Bruesehoff.
