Master Gardener Help Desk

The Carver/Scott Master Gardeners have a help desk from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday until Labor Day at the Waconia Public Library. No fee, just come and ask questions or bring a sample of a problem.

Waconia Swim Club

Join the Waconia Swim Club for its fall/winter season. Flexible schedule. Youth, young adults age 5-18 welcome. SVABW volunteers
Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women is in need of volunteers to answer the 24-hour crisis line from the comfort of your home. Volunteers needed to facilitate support groups and provide childcare. Free training for the crisis line begins Sept. 14. Info: (952) 873-4214.

Nickle Dickle Pickle Contest
Enter your pickles in the inaugural Nickle Dickle Pickle Contest! Pickles will be judged on Nickle Dickle Day, Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. Register by Saturday, Aug. 31. Sports medicine conference

THURSDAY, AUG. 15 – Twin Cities Orthopedics will host a sports medicine conference for parents, coaches and Athletic Trainers that will cover the most up-to-date issues surrounding athletes and sports participation at 6 p.m. at Waconia High School. Relay For Life of Waconia

Caregiver Support Group

MONDAY, AUG. 19 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care provide a monthly Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. Meet, talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support. Homeward Bound TC

VFW Steak Fry

Master Gardener plant sale

SATURDAY, AUG. 24 – The 5th annual Carver-Scott Extension Master Gardener Plant Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Chaska Rainbow Foods. Reasonably priced hardy perennial divisions from the Carver-Scott Extension Master Gardeners including: hosta, ornamental grasses, ground covers, iris, peonies, daffodils, day lilies, houseplants, shrubs as well as garden art, produce and more. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and make suggestions.

Motorcycle Run

SATURDAY, AUG. 24 – The 10th annual Stiftungsfest Motorcycle Run will begin at noon in NYA. All proceeds benefit the South West Carver County Fire Explorers, a group of teenagers from the Hamburg, Cologne, and NYA area who are interested in firefighting.
