Departments respond to barn fire in rural Waconia

Several area fire departments responded to a barn fire at a farm located at 12485 Co Road 30 in Waconia at approximately 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
According to Waconia Fire Chief Mark Morse, the structure was fully involved with fire upon arrival. Mutual aid was requested from Mayer, New Germany, Watertown, Norwood Young America, Cologne and Victoria.
Morse said the structure and contents were a total loss and an adjacent structure and its contents also suffered damage. No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians. Deputy State Fire Marshall Ron Rahman assisted with the investigation. At this time, the cause of the blaze is undetermined.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office assisted with scene security and Ridgeview paramedics assisted with firefighter rehab. According to Morse, approximately 45 firefighters received assistance due to the excessive heat and need to haul water to the scene.
