American Red Cross Bloodmobile

In spite of the warm weather on Wednesday, about 50 donors gave blood at the bloodmobile at the Mayer Community Center. There was one first-time donor, Samantha Fisher. Joan Moy received a 10-gallon pin. Thank you to all the workers who helped make this a success. Special thanks to the Mayer Firemen’s Auxiliary for the food preparations for the workers and to Mackenthun’s for their generous food donation.


Zion School starts Sept. 4

Students will be returning to school at Zion Lutheran on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The school year will begin with Opening Chapel at 8:45 a.m.



Fire at Radde’s

Wednesday morning brought many fire departments to Mayer to help extinguish a shed fire on the Tom Radde property southeast of Mayer. There is news of this in another part of the paper.


Seniors will meet Sept. 9

Because of Labor Day next week, the senior citizen’s pot-luck dinner will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, not on Labor Day.

Every Tuesday

The Car & Cycle Show will continue as well as the Farmer’s Market on Second Street N. between Highway 25 and Bluejay Ave. during the hours of 5-8 p.m. Come out and view the vehicles, purchase some home grown foods and visit with your neighbors.
