Waconia Swim Club

Join the Waconia Swim Club for its fall/winter season. Flexible schedule. Youth, young adults age 5-18 welcome. SVABW volunteers
Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women is in need of volunteers to answer the 24-hour crisis line from the comfort of your home. Volunteers needed to facilitate support groups and provide childcare. Free training for the crisis line begins Sept. 14. Info: (952) 873-4214.

September shot clinics

MONDAYS – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th St, Chaska) will host back-to-school shot clinics for children who do not have health insurance, or whose insurance does not cover shots, every Monday in September from 3 to 5 p.m., by appointment only. ECFE Open House

THURSDAY, SEPT. 5 – District 110 ECFE invites parents and preschool age children to an open house from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 520 Industrial Blvd in Waconia. Visit with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, enjoy puppet shows with Merlajean’s creative puppets, and classroom visits, face painting, prizes and treats also available. Wildcat Walk

THURSDAY, SEPT. 5 – Join the Waconia High School football team, the Waconia & Vikings cheerleaders, the drumline, youth players, and their families for the inaugural Wildcat Walk, which will be held prior to each home football game. The players will line up at 5:30 p.m. at Unhinged! Pizza and lead all to the stadium. Line the streets and cheer on the football players for their first home game on Friday, Sept. 6. Kickoff: 7 p.m.

Women in the Outdoors

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 – Take a morning for yourself, try something new and have lunch from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Marsh Lake Preserve in Victoria. Shoot archery, trap and hand guns. Nordic Music Festival

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 – The Nordic Music Festival at the Lake Minnewashta Regional Park will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy singers, dancers, musicians, artists, storytellers, a Viking Village, Scandinavian food, and the annual Lutefisk Toss Competition, Silent Auction and more.

WHA golf tournament

Picnic & Arts in the Park

SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 – The 3rd annual Carver County Community Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rick Johnson Park (Lewis Avenue) in Watertown. Sponsored by the Carver County Historical Society and the Arts Consortium of Carver County. Includes picnic and an art crawl along Lewis Avenue.

Apple Pick’n Days

SEPT. 7-8 – The Ladybug Chapter of The Children’s Association – Minneapolis presents Apple Pick’n Days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. rain or shine at Deardorff Orchards & Vineyards and Parley Lake Winery (8350 Parley Lake Rd., Waconia). Carver Trinity Bazaar

SEPT. 7-8 – Carver Trinity Lutheran Church will host its Annual Bazaar during Steamboat Days. Hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sale includes: baked goods, garden produce, canned goods, antiques, embroidered items, gently used books, DVDs, toys, household items, plants, gift baskets and more. St. Mark polka service

SUNDAY, SEPT. 8 – St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany invites all to an outdoor Polka Service at 9 a.m. led by the Polka Sons of Praise; bring your lawn chairs. 9/11 Open House

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 11 – The Waconia Fire Department will hold a 9/11 Memorial Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. at the fire station. Food and refreshments provided. All welcome to attend.

Governor forum

Band Booster sale

SEPT. 13-14 – The Waconia Band Booster garage sale will be held at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 14.
