September shot clinics

Mondays, 3-5 p.m. – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th St, Chaska) will host back-to-school shot clinics for children who do not have health insurance, or whose insurance does not cover shots, every Monday in September from 3 to 5 p.m., by appointment only. Fee is requested but no one will be denied service if unable to pay. Info, appt: 361-1329.


Senior Club

Tuesdays, 1 p.m. – The Watertown Senior Club meets every Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Watertown City Hall. All 55+ welcome. Info: (952) 955-2697.


Support Group

2nd Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.. – Suicide Bereavement Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Waconia Moravian Church. 209 E 2nd street. Next Meeting May 14th, 6:30pm open to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.


Peace Lutheran midweek program

Wednesdays – JAM! Jesus and Me! is a program designed to help kids think bigger, better and grander thoughts about God!  We care about sharing the gospel with your child and teaching them how to build Christian relationships with others.  The afternoon will be a time for kids in grades 1-5 to grow in their own relationship with Jesus.  We will be studying God’s Word, teaching kids how to apply it to their lives, having fun with arts/crafts, music, skits, games and a light supper! WEFC Children’s Program

Wed. evenings – We’d love your children to join us at Watertown Evangelical Free Church to learn and share about God!  The evening is filled with stories, music, games and love for our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Whether your child is in Hoppers (born on or before 9/1/11 and potty trained – Pre K) or JWJ – Journey with Jesus (K-6th grade) they will love the friendships they gain with their peers and joy they will feel learning and sharing about God.  The program begins Sept. 25.  All denominations welcome!  See you there!  Please call or email Jen Preston to register:  952-955-1068 or [email protected]


Free Hot dinner at St. Paul’s

1st Thursday, 5:30-6:30 p.m.  – Please join St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (505 Westminster Avenue. SW in Watertown) once a month for a wonderful full course hot dinner. All are invited every first Thursday of the month. Info: 955-1498.


Watertown Farmer’s Market

Thursdays this summer, 3:30-6:30 p.m.  – New Day and New location:  find us on Thursday’s next to the city offices from 3:30-6:30 p.m.  Now offering:  homemade soap, craft items, jam, pickled items, veggies, eggs, and baked goods. Watertown Historical Society Meeting

Thur., Sept. 5, 12:30 p.m. – The Watertown Area Historical Society will meet at the Watertown Community Center to finalize plans for the Picnic and Art in the Park event.


Watertown Class of 58 Reunion

Sept. 7, 5 p.m. – The Watertown High School Class of 1958 annual reunion will meet at 5 p.m. at B’s On The river in Watertown.


Apple Pick’n Days

Sept. 7-8The Ladybug Chapter of The Children’s Association – Minneapolis presents Apple Pick’n Days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. rain or shine at Deardorff Orchards & Vineyards and Parley Lake Winery (8350 Parley Lake Rd., Waconia). Petting zoo, face painting, hayrides and more. Part of proceeds to benefit Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Info: (952) 442-1885.



Outdoor Worship Service

Sept. 8St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 505 Westminster Ave. SW, Watertown, will hold an Outdoor Worship Service and Picnic on the Lawn celebrating its Sunday School kickoff. 9:15 opening Sunday School, youth group, adult bible class. 10:30: outdoor music service, please bring your lawn chair or blanket; 11:30 Pork burger dinner (hot dogs also available). Includes cole slaw/chips, baked beans, watermelon, refrigerator pickles, bars/ice cream floats, coffee/lemonade/water. Free Will Donation proceeds will benefit: CCLS, Robin’s Nest Orphanage (Pastor Bruce & Barb Laabs) and future St. Paul’s Outreach events


Outdoor Polka Worship

Sun., Sept. 8, 9 a.m.St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany welcomes you to an outdoor Polka Service at 9 a.m.  The worship service will be led by the Polka Sons of Praise outside in the shade; bring your lawn chairs.  After the service, enjoy the annual Pork Chop Dinner, Silent Auction and Bake Sale. The Dinner & Auction run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The worship service, dinner and auction will all be held at St. Mark School.


Apple Pick’n Days

Tues., Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m.The League of Women Voters of Eastern Carver County will hold its monthly meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Thornton Wilder Room at the Chanhassen Library. Learn about the League and its mission. The meeting is open to the public.


Fall Festival

Sun., Sept. 15 – Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will hold its annual Fall Festival, featuring a homestyle turkey dinner, at 109 Angel Ave NW in Watertown. Serving from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., take out available. Silent auction, raffle, country store with baked goods and homemade crafts, and games for all ages.


Singing Friends Open Rehearsal

Tues., Sept. 17, 24, 7:30 p.m. – The Singing Friends Chorus, a Central Minnesota singing ensemble, starts rehearsals for the fall concert season. This 32-voice, fun-loving, all-ages SATB community choir, centered in McLeod, Sibley, and Carver counties, performs in many area communities.  No auditions are required. Movie, discussion

Mon., Sept. 23, 7 p.m. – The League of Women Voters: Eastern Carver County and MEPH (Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, Hopkins), in association with Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, will show the movie “Iron Jawed Angels” at 7 p.m. in Chanhassen Dinner Theatres: Fireside Theatre. Movie focuses on suffragists, women fighting for the right to vote. Informal discussion will be held after the movie in Brindisi’s Pub, adjacent to the theatre. Open to the public.


DandyLions book drive

Sept. 30-Oct. 5 – Mayer-Watertown DandyLions used book drive will be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5. Drop off children’s and adult books at Watertown Floral Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Jeff Stern Memorial Golf Tournament

Sun., Oct. 6, 1 p.m. – The Jeff Stern Memorial Golf Tourney for CCLS will be held at Shadowbrooke Golf Course in Lester Prairie. 9-Hole Scramble Event, 1 p.m. shotgun. Lunch will be served at noon, bring your family! Register for golf solo or put a foursome together. Cost is $45 for 18 and up, $40 for 17 and below. Augsburg Centennial Singers

Sun., Oct. 6, 4 p.m. – The Augsburg Centennial Singers will appear in concert at Peace Lutheran Church, 600 Kristi Lane, Watertown. The concert features familiar hymns and barbershop and sacred music selections. Under the direction of Al Reesnes, the 60-member Centennial Singers take their name in remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the first Augsburg Gospel Quartet to visit Norway in the 1890’s.   The Singers have made two trips to Norway, a concert tour in the Florida and several visits to the Southwestern United States.
