Mayer News for Sept. 5

Zion School starts Sept. 4

Now that the students are back in school, please remember to drive carefully when near the school. Children sometimes forget to stop and look both ways before crossing the street.

Senior Citizens Pot Luck

The September senior citizens pot-luck dinner will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, because of Labor Day falling on the first Monday of the month. All senior citizens in the Mayer area are urged to come to this monthly gathering. We have lots of good food to share as each person brings a dish to put on the banquet table. Dinner is served at 11:30 a.m. with departure time about 1:30 p.m. We meet in the Mayer Community Center on Blue Jay Avenue.

Farmer’s Market and Car Show

All Tuesdays, the weekly car and cycle show and the Farmer’s Market will be held on Second Street N. as long as interest continues. Time of the show and market is from 5-8 p.m. Those who bring goods are encouraged to bring a card table to set their bounty on. All monies earned are yours to keep. There is no charge to you as a seller as this is an excellent way for you to meet your neighbors and get to know each other. The Kettle Korn Man is a welcome partaker of this event. Students of Zion Lutheran School have a hot dog, pop and snack stand for you to purchase some treats for the tummy while looking over the cars, trucks and cycles.

City Council

Members of the Mayer City Council will have a meeting Monday, Sept. 9, starting at 6:30 p.m.
