The Holy Family football team kicked off 2013 by hosting Glencoe-Silver Lake on Aug. 29, falling 34-7 to the Panthers.
The Panthers struck first with a five-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, before Holy Family responded with a 57-yard touchdown run by junior running back Chazz Johnson. Johnson would end the game with 11 carries for 99 yards.
Glencoe-Silver Lake went on to score 27 unanswered points throughout the game and end with the 34-7 victory.
Despite the score, the Fire defense made it a struggled for the Panthers to score, Parzyck said, forcing the Panthers to earn every yard. Senior Nick Hanscom led the way with 18 tackles for the Fire, while sophomore Max Bergmann and junior Brennan Bornhorst had 11 and nine tackles, respectively.
At halftime, the Fire celebrated their new press box with Holy Family Principal Kathie Brown recognizing all the people who helped make it possible. Father Bob White of St. Victoria concluded the halftime celebration with a blessing of the press box.
The Fire are at Litchfield Sept. 6 and hope to pick up their first win of the year.
