Crown College enters its inaugural football season with the grand opening of its new KleinBank Stadium at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. The field was made possible because of a sizable donation from KleinBank. Crown takes on Macalester in its first-ever night home football game and KleinBank will use this opportunity to cap off its Customer Appreciation Days.
The $2.4 million stadium holds more than 1,300 and every seat is expected to be filled on Saturday night. The entire community is welcome to come. All tickets will be discounted ($5 adults, $1 teens, kids under 12 free). Crown alumni are free, as are all KleinBank employees and their families. Stadium tours begin at 3 p.m., tailgating from 4 to 6 p.m. and plenty of concession stands will be open throughout the event. Entertainment will be provided by the Waconia High School band.
Crown College Athletics includes 11 NCAA Division III teams and belongs to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. The multipurpose stadium, which will also host community athletic events, was built by Mortenson, builders of more than 100 sports venues including Target Field.
“Our relationship with KleinBank spans nearly 30 years and we’re excited that such a community-oriented partner is helping usher Crown into this new era,” said Joel Wiggins, Crown College president.
“We’re thrilled to help Crown celebrate this exciting occasion. The values of our two organizations are so closely aligned,” said Doug Hile, president/CEO of KleinBank. “We look forward to a long and engaging relationship.”
