The results are in … congratulations Relayers!
The 2013 Relay For Life of Waconia was a smashing success and a day we’ll remember for years to come.
Together we raised $123,667.04 for the American Cancer Society. These funds will be used to help save lives, help those touched by cancer, and empower people to fight back against cancer.
Thank you to everyone that contributed to our financial goal. I’d like to recognize our top three teams and individuals. The top three teams are Wes’ Walking Warriors ($45,214.12), Gesingers For Life ($10,799.57) and Westonka Jaycees ($9,092.76). The top three individuals are Wes Schiffler ($33,486.48), Ellana Keaveny ($4,005.00) and Lisa Fontanna ($2,605.50). Congratulations and thank you to all of you!
Our Relay wouldn’t be possible without the endless support of our community and beyond. A huge thank you to our Steering Committee for your dedication, support, and passion. Words cannot express my appreciation for each and every one of you!

We continue to fundraise year round and we have a new and exciting opportunity to share. We are working with Schwan’s and their new Schwan’s Cares fundraising program. For every $25 e-certificate (Gift Card) that is purchased between now and Sept. 28, Relay For Life of Waconia will earn $10. After Sept. 28, we will continue to earn a small percentage year round. Visit www.schwans-cares.com for more information and to register. Ask your favorite Schwan’s man for more information.
During the Opening Ceremony we unveiled another fundraiser called Ribbons of Hope & Remembrance (see photo). Personalized plates are displayed on wooden ribbons which will be showcased at local businesses during the year. If you’d like to purchase a plate ($25 each) in honor or in memory of a loved one please send an e-mail to [email protected]
Our dedicated volunteers help in various ways throughout the year and we are looking for volunteers to be a part of our Steering Committee. For more information regarding the various opportunities contact me at [email protected] Thank you for your consideration.
The 4th annual Relay For Life of Waconia was a milestone year. Since 2010 we have raised over $500,000 which is absolutely amazing! As we have learned, together anything is possible when we Relay the Waconia way. Thank you for continuing to Spread HOPE One Step at a Time!
