Raiders girls XC take third, boys eighth at own meet

Central boys’ and girls’ cross country had strong showing at Mankato Loyola as the girls’ team took home first place and the boys’ took third and the Raiders had two individual winners as well.
The girls finished with 37 team points, well ahead of the hosts with 49. Minnesota River Conference team Tri-City United took third with 66.
Individually, Judy Larson won the girls’ race with a personal record time of 15 minutes, 15.14 seconds and Abbie Schnabel finished second overall (15:57.58).
Also, April Feist took 10th (17:11.30), Parry Larson finished 12th (17:26.23), Dana Norman got 17th (17:31.15) and Sarah Korman got 22nd (18:27.77).
For the boys, the Raiders had 71 team points, behind both Tri City-United in first (53) and Mankato Loyola/Cleveland in second (58).
Individually, Alex Wischnack paced the field in 16:53.16 and Ben Barth took 10th (18:16.89). Also, Chase Heuer was 13th (18:28.50), Devon Dvorak finished 23rd (19:32.14) and Luke Peterson took 24th (19:33.45).
“It was a great Friday meet for the Raiders,” said head coach Mark Lagergren. “Two meets last week, but the team did outstanding… need to keep improving to peak for conference and sections. Need to stay healthy and we are looking to finish well.”

Lions Meet
Central girls cross country finished third and boys’ eighth at NYA Lions Meet at Baylor Park on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Waconia won the girls race with 79 team points, while Central had 149.
For the boys, Delano finished first with 56 team points while Central had 243 and Mayer Luther finished in 16th with 407.
Individually, Alexis Willems of Waconia won the girls race with a time of 15 minutes 30.71 seconds in a field 106 runners. In a close finish, Montevideo’s Claire Sulflow just edged out Central’s Judy Larson by .05 seconds at the line to take fifth place (16:01.25 and 16:01.3). Abby Schnabel finished just behind in seventh (16:14.6), while April Feist took 24th (17:31.4), Dana Norman took 47th (18:23) and Sommer Scott got 65th (19:05.2). Also, Addysen Farrell finished in 78th (19:35.1) and Sarah Korman got 79th (19:47.7).
Mayer Lutheran was paced by Emilie Berry in 11th (16:29.89), followed by Karlea Kyllo in 23rd (17:23.69), Clara Leverich in 93rd (20:17.46) and Harley Hentges in 98th (21:05.98).
For the boys, Adam Armbruster won the boys race (16:51.49) among 132 runners, followed closely by both Central’s Alex Wischnack (17:00.56) and Mayer Lutheran’s Brandon Duffy (17:05.73).
Other counting scorers for Central included Ben Barth in 32nd (18:41.1), Chase Heuer in 51st (19:13.6), Cole Sauter in 74th (19:54.5) and Devon Dvorak in 84th (20:09.1). Also, Andrew Wischnack finished in 89th (20:14) and Josh Hendel took 92nd (20:23.9).
In addition to Duffy, Wyatt Entinger finished in 83rd (20:08.9) followed by Alex Mielke in 94th (20:27.4), Parker Esterberg in 112th (21:43.6), Ben Quiram in 115th (21.53.6), and Todd Johnson in 124th (23:21.2).

Next up
Central will next compete at Glencoe-Silver Lake at 4 p.m. tonight, Sept. 19. Varsity then heads to New Prague on Tuesday,  Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. That same day, junior varsity will compete at Hutchinson at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 24.
This weekend, the Crusaders compete at Milaca on Sept. 21, before competing at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted next week on Sept. 26.
