The Waconia volleyball team moved above .500 last week with a Wright County Conference win over Annandale. Now 5-4 this season, the Wildcats are 2-1 in the WCC.
Defeating the Cardinals 25-16, 25-16, and 25-10 on Sept. 12, head coach Jim Lee said the ‘Cats had “splendid” ball control that helped immensely during the match.
Aces were in abundance for the Wildcat serves, coming off the hands of junior Jessica Wolf (3), freshman Taylor Wolf (3), and junior Jordyn Goldschmidt (2).
On the offensive side, Jessica Wolf led WHS with 12 kills, while senior Kirsten Wagener added nine. Sophomore Mikayla Williams collected seven kills at the net, while junior Jenna Van De Velde had six.
A host of Wildcat blocks stopped the Annandale offense. Taylor Wolf was credited with four blocks, while Wagener, Williams, and junior Anna Schmitt each had three. Schmitt tallied 34 assists for the game, while senior Sam Paulson worked the back line for 16 digs.
The Wildcats schedule really kicks up this weekend as they head to Apple Valley for a tournament before going on the road at top-ranked Bethlehem Academy on Sept. 24 and Mound-Westonka Sept. 26th.
