Waconia Library to host family history events

Fall in love with family history at the Waconia Library. Nine events will be held on Saturdays in September and October! Here are the first events:
• Preserving Your Family Treasures with Heidi Gould of the Carver County Historical Society, 10:30 a.m., Sept. 28.  This session will include a video and will cover preserving metals, textiles, and touch on paper memorabilia.
• Family Garden History with Marty Bergland, 1 p.m., Sept. 28. Discovering and recording what your family grew and how it was used is a rewarding learning adventure for all ages. Ideas for finding gardening information and related items will be presented — do bring your own family gardening memorabilia. Funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
• Heirloom Roadshow with Saundra Schaitberger of Pine-N-Tiques, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Oct. 5. Thirty lucky people will have the opportunity to have Saundra look at their heirloom and appraise its value. Registration is required for this event — contact the Waconia Library at 442-4714.
