VIDEO: Pie Eating Contest

In case you missed it, the 3rd annual Nickle Dickle Day Pie Eating Contest was held at City Square Park in Waconia on Saturday, Sept. 14. Josh Sell, a teacher at Southview Elementary, erased memories of finishing second in 2012 by eating his way to victory in 2013. For his efforts, Sell earned $500 for Southview. The other competitors included Bruce Richards (St. Joseph), Nate Byrne (Bayview), Shane Calusen (Clearwater) and Sam Baker (WHS). Each of those teachers earned $125 for his respective school. In the youth divisions, the victors were Hunter Leinen (8-10 division) and Max Sartwell (11-13). The contest was hosted by the Waconia Patriot and sponsored by the Ground Round, American Family Insurance, Sunny Days Therapy and the Waconia Chamber of Commerce. Mackenthun’s Fine Foods provided the pies. (Patriot photo by Todd Moen )
