Annual Chili Cook-off set for Oct. 12

ChiliEventCMYKCarver County Parks is excited to announce its 10th annual Baylor Campground Chili Cook-off on Saturday, Oct. 12 in the Historic Barn at Baylor Regional Park and Campground. All are welcome to make their best chili and register it for judging with hopes to be named the 2013 Baylor Campground Chili Champ!
With conclusion of the chili judging (judging starts at noon sharp, completing at 12:30 p.m.) all registered cook-off participants and weekend campers are invited to enjoy the chili pot-luck and social, sampling their competitions chili, and voting for your favorite chili entry. Camping sites are currently available for the weekend.
Registration for your chili entry is required, with cost of a $10 registration fee. As part of the chili pot-luck & social, paper products, beverages (water & lemonade), condiments (sour cream & shredded cheese) and corn bread will be provided (please come prepared with a power cord for your crockpot). Immediately following the pot-luck and social there will be a free performance from RAD Zoo, a traveling reptile and amphibian show from Owatonna! The show is from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. inside the Community Room at the Park.
After the weekend of Oct. 12-13, the campground will be closing for the 2013 season. Carver County Parks will begin taking camping and shelter reservations for 2014 on Jan. 14 at 7:30 a.m. CST online, over the phone through the Park Office.
