Peace Lutheran midweek program

Wednesdays – JAM! Jesus and Me! is a program designed to help kids think bigger, better and grander thoughts about God!  We care about sharing the gospel with your child and teaching them how to build Christian relationships with others.  The afternoon will be a time for kids in grades 1-5 to grow in their own relationship with Jesus.  We will be studying God’s Word, teaching kids how to apply it to their lives, having fun with arts/crafts, music, skits, games and a light supper! WEFC Children’s Program

Wed. evenings – We’d love your children to join us at Watertown Evangelical Free Church to learn and share about God!  The evening is filled with stories, music, games and love for our Lord, Jesus Christ.  Whether your child is in Hoppers (born on or before 9/1/11 and potty trained – Pre K) or JWJ – Journey with Jesus (K-6th grade) they will love the friendships they gain with their peers and joy they will feel learning and sharing about God.  The program begins Sept. 25.  All denominations welcome!  See you there!  Please call or email Jen Preston to register:  952-955-1068 or

DandyLions book drive

Sept. 30-Oct. 5 – Mayer-Watertown DandyLions used book drive will be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5. Drop off children’s and adult books at Watertown Floral Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Fine Arts Council Meeting

Thur., Oct. 3, 7 p.m. – The Watertown Area Fine Arts Council will meet at the home of Mary Lou Jirik. New members welcome.


Fall Bazaar/Bake Sale

Oct. 4-5 – Peace Lutheran Church, 600 Kristi Lane, Watertown (Cty Rd 20, east of Elementary School) will hold its second annual fall bazaar. Crafts, doll clothes, wood working, jewelry, scarves, cards, maple syrup, canning, baked goods, jams, candy, garden produce. Friday, Oct. 4, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Funds Supplemented by Thrivent. Two local authors will also have book signings: Linda Reinert, author of Talking is Hard For Me!, and Joann Deveny, author of When Bluebirds Fly: Losing a Child, Living With Hope.


St. Paul’s Salad Luncheon

Sat., Oct. 5, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.. – St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown will hold its annual salad luncheon and bake sale at the church at 505 Westminster Ave. SW in Watertown. Hosted by the LWML and funds raised will be supplemented by Thrivent Financial For Lutherans.

Relay for Life Vendor Show

Sat., Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Relay for Life Vendor Show at the Laketown Gym in Waconia. We have vendors from Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Norwex, Thirty One, Tastefully Simple, Lia Sophia, Tupperware, Avon, Grace Adele, Paparazzi, Vault Denim, Tricia Towels, Mary Kay, Rodan & Fields, Sacred Health Family Chiropractic, Herbalife, South Hill Designs, Partylite, Fused Glass Necklaces and Sweet Swag by Sarah.


Jeff Stern Memorial Golf Tournament

Sun., Oct. 6, 1 p.m. – The Jeff Stern Memorial Golf Tourney for CCLS will be held at Shadowbrooke Golf Course in Lester Prairie. 9-Hole Scramble Event, for fun or serious golfers, 1 p.m. shotgun. Lunch will be served at noon, bring your family! Register for golf solo or put a foursome together. Cost is $45 for 18 and up, $40 for 17 and below. Augsburg Centennial Singers

Sun., Oct. 6, 4 p.m. – The Augsburg Centennial Singers will appear in concert at Peace Lutheran Church, 600 Kristi Lane, Watertown. The concert features familiar hymns and barbershop and sacred music selections. Under the direction of Al Reesnes, the 60-member Centennial Singers take their name in remembrance of the 100th anniversary of the first Augsburg Gospel Quartet to visit Norway in the 1890’s.   The Singers have made two trips to Norway, a concert tour in the Florida and several visits to the Southwestern United States.


College Fair

Mon. Oct. 7, 9-11 a.m. – MEF College Fair will be held at Watertown-Mayer High School, with students from numerous high schools attending. The event is open to the community and will be held in the high school auxiliary gym.


WMMS Scholastic Book Fair

Oct. 8 – The Watertown-Mayer Middle School Scholastic Book Fair will be held Thursday, Oct. 3 and Tuesday, Oct. 8 from 3:30-7:30 p.m.  The public is invited to attend, held in conjunction with Parent/Teacher Conferences.  Many books for all ages available.  Sponsored by W-M PTO.



Thur., Oct. 10, 6:30 p.m. – The Church of the Immaculate Conception will be hosting CatholicManNight. It is a Special father and son night, featuring reflections on “The Awesomeness of Jesus Christ,” Adoration; Confession; man meal; and raffle.


Fall Fundraiser at the Harbor

Fri, Oct. 11, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.. – The Harbor at Peace Village, specializing in assisted living care, is hosting a fundraiser to defray the costs of Peace Village campus activities. Roast Beef dinner at The Harbor, 300 North Faxon Rd. in Norwood Young America. Full roast Beef dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable and a roll plus ice cream cup. Tonka Toys Employee Reunion

Sat., Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – The Westonka Historical Society will host the 3rd annual Former Employees of Tonka Toys Reunion at the new Westonka History Museum at 5341 Maywood Road in Mound. A light lunch will be served at noon, followed by a short program. The rest of the time you may tour the Tonka Toy Room at the museum, and check out the rest of the displays as well. CCLCCA Training

Tues., Oct. 15, 7-9 p.m. – Join other providers for training.  “How Does it Feel”Childcare From a Parents Perspective” will be presented by Beth Mork.  Training starts promptly at 7 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m.  Association discussion and information will be presented at 6:30 p.m..  New location at Chaska High School, 545 Pioneer Trail, Chaska, MN, enter at Door No. 1, Room 255 (Parent Ed Classroom). Carver County Senior Expo

Thur., Oct. 17, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. – The 2013 Carver County Senior Expo will be held at Waconia High School. Hanson’s Haunted Barn

Sat., Oct. 26, 6:30-9:30 p.m. – Hanson’s Haunted Barn is free and all are welcome. Wagon rides through the haunted woods from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Kid’s activities from 6:30-9 p.m. Haunted barn tours from 7-9 p.m., or until the line ends.
