The Holy Family football team has dropped to 2-3 this season after falling to Orono and Hutchinson the last two weeks.
The Fire were shut down 47-0 against Hutchinson on Sept. 27, despite a hard fight by Holy Family, according to coach Ian Parzyck.
Junior quarterback Hank Hopkins led the way for the Fire, completing nine passes for 150 yards. Hopkins found junior Charlie Lacy on the receiving end four times for 81 yards. Lacy also led the Fire rushers with 36 yards.
Senior Nick Hanscom led the team in tackles with nine, as well as a quarterback sack on Hutchinson. Sophomore Max Bergmann also logged a sack and eight tackles. Junior Will Phillips had seven tackles.
During the game, the Fire celebrated Parents’ Night in front of a large home crowd.
The Fire were bested Sept. 20 at Orono, as the Fire fell to the Spartans in a 35-14 game.
The two teams traded possessions in the first quarter before the Spartans put up the first touchdown of the game. The Fire responded with a 71-yard touchdown run by junior Chazz Johnson.
That touchdown would unfortunately be all the scoring for the Fire until Hopkins scored on a 14-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to make it a 35-14 game.
Offensively, the Fire had a total of 316 yards with Hopkins completing 10 of 12 pass attempts for 144 yards. Johnson rushed 94 yards on 18 carries, while Lacy was the team’s leading receiver with six catches for 89 yards.
Hanscom led the Fire on defense with 14 tackles and a fumble recovery. Junior Michael Dolan had nine tackles and sophomore Eric Requet had eight to help the Fire defense.
Holy Family will host Waconia this Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. The Wildcats are 0-5 this season after a 21-7 loss to Mound-Westonka last week.
