BOARD OF EDUCATION
Regular Meeting August 26, 2013
I. The regular meeting of the Watertown-Mayer School Board in the Watertown City Hall on Monday, August 26th, 2013 was called to order at 7:03 PM by Chair McCain. Board members present: Janikula, Koehler, Jackson, Koehler, Hoover, Thompson and McCain. Absent: None. Administration team members present: Superintendent
Marlette, Hennen, Hittle, Piersak and Haugen.
II. Visitor requests and consideration of agenda. MMS (Motion made and Seconded by) Koehler and Burns to approve the agenda as amended. Passes 7-0. Mr. Vanderlinde spoke to the board concerning bus transportation requests.
III. General Business Items. MMS Hoover and Thompson to approve the following consent agenda items: Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of July 22, 2013; Personnel consent agenda; business consent agenda – operations update. Passes 7-0.

V. Reports by Guests, Administration and Board Director Piersak spoke to the board regarding the Special Education Handbooks. Director Haugen spoke to the board regarding the Athletic/Activities Handbook and numbers. Superintendent David A. Marlette updated the board on the Primary School construction, READ for school, parking lot and the budget.

A. MMS Thompson and Hoover to approve the 2013-2014 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 High School Handbook. Passes 7-0.
B. MMS Burns and Thompson to approve the 2013-2014 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Middle School Handbook. Passes 7-0.
C. MMS Hoover and Jackson to approve the 2013-2014 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Elementary School Handbook. Passes 7-0.
D. MMS Burns and Hoover to approve the 2013-2014 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Primary School Handbook. Passes 7-0.
E. MMS Burns and Hoover to approve the 2009-2010 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Athletic/Activities Handbook. Passes 7-0.
F. MMS Thompson and Burns to approve the 2010-2011 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Athletic/Activities Handbook. Passes 7-0.
G. MMS Thompson and Burns to approve the 2011-2012 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Athletic/Activities Handbook. Passes 7-0.
H. MMS Burns and Hoover to approve the 2012-2013 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Athletic/Activities Handbook. Passes 7-0.
I. MMS Hoover and Jackson to approve the 2013-2014 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 Athletic/Activities Handbook. Passes 7-0.
J. The board had the First Reading of Proposed Policy Student Observations by Non-School Personnel.
K. MMS Koehler and Thompson that contingent upon ratification by Education Minnesota-Watertown-Mayer Certified Teacher Union, the Watertown-Mayer Independent School District No. 111 approves the 2013-2015 Master Agreement as negotiated. Passes 6-0. Janikula abstained from the vote.
L. MMS Thompson and Jackson to approve the Resolution converting Voter Approved Referendum Authority to a Board Approved Referendum Authority and Authorizing
a New Board Approved Referendum Authority. Ayes: McCain, Hoover, Janikula,Koehler, Burns, Thompson and Jackson. Nays: None. Passes 7-0.
VIII. Discussion of issues or open comments by School Board Directors. Reminder of upcoming School Board Meetings: Regular School Board Monday, September 23, 2013 7:00 PM Watertown City Hall
IX. MMS Hoover and Thompson to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 PM and was duly passed.
