Central XC gears up for MRC at Duluth’s Swain Invitational

In their last race before the Minnesota River Conference meet, Central girls’ and boys’ cross country squads competed at the Duluth Swain Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Facing windy and rainy conditions, the girls were seventh out of 30 teams with 247 team points and the boys took 13th out of 26 with 364.
Judy Larson boosted the girls’ performance with a second place finish in 15 minutes, 57 seconds, behind winner Mary Naas of St. Paul Academy (15:48).
Also, Abbie Schnabel took 34th (17:21), Parry Larson was 56th (17:53), April Feist finished 78th (18:16) and Dana Norman took 95th (18:36). Courtney Carlson was 145th (19:38) and Sarah Korman took 185th (19:18).
The boys were led by Alex Wischnack who finished fifth (17:08). Ben Barth took 51st (18:41), Chase Heuer finished 87th (19:33), Devon Dvorak finished 123rd (20:21, followed by Cole Sauter in 125th (20:27) to round out counting scores. Andrew Wischnack finished right behind them in 126th (20:29) and Luke Peterson crossed the line in 134th (20:44).
In junior varsity action, Addysen Farrell placed first with a 18:15 clocking to help the girls to a third-place finish out of 11 teams and the boys also took third out of 15 teams.
Next up, the Raiders will host the MRC Conference Meet tonight before traveling to Watertown on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and the  Section Meet in Milaca on Thursday, Oct. 24.
