The Watertown-Mayer/Delano girls’ swimming team competed in two duals last week, easily defeating Metro United on Tuesday, Oct. 1, but falling to Hutchinson on Thursday, Oct. 3.

The Royals won every event but one as they cruised to a home win over Metro United.
Six different swimmers won individual events for the Royals, including two for Jordyn Wentzel. She won the 200-yard Individual Medley in a time of 2:24.33, and also won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:31.85.
Morgan Frank picked up a win for the Royals in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 2:06.46. Lauren York won the 50-yard freestyle in 27.19 seconds, and Sophia Fillmore won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:09.35. Kayla Stevens won the 100-yard freestyle in 58.55 seconds, and Kalley Johnson won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.20.
The Royals were also victorious in all three relays. Thea Clark, Wentzel, Klara Koch and Emily Bobick started the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:04.03. York, Stevens, Bobick and Frank finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:50.32 to finish in first place, and Wentzel, York, Stevens and Frank finished the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:57.63 to take the top spot.
Stevens also added a second-place finish for the Royals in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.91), while Frank was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.87). Clark earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, the Royals’ top finisher in that event, with a time of 1:08.82.
Johnson finished third in the 200-yard IM (2:33.51) and Sommer Heikkila was third in the 200-yard IM (27.06). Koch was third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:10.47) to give the Royals a 1-2-3 finish in that event, and York was third in the 100-yard freestyle (59.43).

Hutchinson wont the first five events and never looked back last Thursday, Oct. 3, in a win over the Royals.
The Royals’ two wins on the day belonged to Stevens and Frank in back-to-back events. Stevens won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.72 seconds, and Frank followed that with a time of 5:35.78 to win the 500-yard freestyle.
Frank also had a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.92) with Stevens also taking third in that event (2:08.78). Wentzel was second in the 200-yard IM (2:22.77) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.88), and Clark was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.83).
York finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (27.07) and Koch was third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.84). York was third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.08) and Lindsay Kantrovich was third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.42).
