Vernice Borowicz

Vernice M. Borowicz, age 76, of Waconia, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial held Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church (41 First St. E.), Waconia with Father Martin Shallbetter as Celebrant of the Mass; visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment at the church cemetery.
Vernice was born on June 18, 1937 in Kittson County, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Helen (Hilde) Bakke. She was a graduate of the Karlstad High School and the Mayville State Teachers College. On Aug. 19, 1961 Vernice was united in marriage to Rudolph T. Borowicz at St. Marys Catholic Church in Grand Forks, N.D. This union was blessed with children Daniel and Maria.
Vernice taught music in Grafton, N.D, Morris, Minn., and Grand Forks, N.D., before moving to Burnsville, Minn. In Burnsville she was a teachers assistant and had served as the principals secretary for 22 years at the Gideon Pond Elementary School.
Vernice was past member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Savage and St. Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis where she was active as a cantor and choir member for 22 years. After moving to Waconia in 2001 Vernice became a faithful member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Waconia.
Vernice lived to teach and was proud to be a part of childrens development. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her two grandsons. A very caring person, Vernice loved to visit and be with friends and family.
Vernice was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Helen Bakke; siblings Marvel, Margaret, David and Charles Jr.
Vernice is survived by her loving family; husband Rudolph; son Daniel Borowicz of Apple Valley; daughter Maria (Paul) Glynn of Waconia; grandchildren Nathan and Connor Glynn; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Adeline Borowicz, Yvonne Borowicz, Rita and Ted Chwialkowski, Rosemary DeMeyere, Raymond and Linda Borowicz, Roger and Margaret Borowicz, Rhodella Ness; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Serving as Urn Bearers are Nathan and Connor Glynn.
