The season has come to an end for the Mayer Lutheran boys’ soccer team. In the first round of the Section 6A tournament on Oct. 8, the No. 12-seeded Crusaders faced off against No. 5 Chaska and fell in a 7-0 game. LHS head coach Josh Hanley said LHS did a good job in the first 30 minutes to stay competitive, but couldn’t break out of Chaska territory.

“[Chaska was] just the better team, plain and simple,” Hanley said. “It was a fun game to watch. Everybody said the score didn’t reflect how well the game was played.”

The Crusaders finished the season 8-8. Look for a full season wrap up in the coming weeks.

Seniors Matt Scanlon (7) and Christian Bakke (11) resume play after a Chaska goal during the Crusaders’ Oct. 8 playoff game.
