The 2013 season has come to a close for the Mayer Lutheran girls’ soccer team, as the Crusaders fell to Waconia in the first round of the Section 6A tournament last week.

Seeded No. 14, the Crusaders headed to Waconia on Oct. 8 to face the No. 3 Wildcats. LHS head coach Stefan Wismar said Mayer Lutheran held its own against a strong Waconia squad, despite the 3-0 shutout.

“We held to 1-0 at the half with great play from goalkeeper Krianna Boelke, who had many saves that kept us in the game and gave us an opportunity against a good Waconia team,” he said.

The Crusaders finished their 2013 campaign with a 5-10-1 record. Look for a full season wrap up next week.
