St. Joe’s hosts math meet

The Math Team from St. Joseph Catholic School in Waconia hosted its first meet on Oct 7. More than 90 mathletes from Minnetonka East, Delano, Norte Dame Academy, Chapel Hill, and St. Therese participated. St. Joseph was the second highest scoring school behind Minnetonka, which was St. Joseph’s highest finish since the team started competing last year. The St. Joseph team practices twice a week and competes in five meets over the course of three months. The team thanks to Laketown Gym and Mocha Monkey for donating space for occasional practices. The team’s short-term goal is to score 100 points in one of its next three meets and its long-term goal is to win its division in one of the next three years. The team is lead by St. Joseph middle school math teach Kristi Klawitter and supported by college math professor Mike Sieve. (Submitted Photo)
