The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce will once again be hosting a downtown trick-or-treat event for local children.
The event will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m. Children may visit local businesses on Lewis Avenue as part of the event, and for the first time, non-downtown businesses will also be participating. Several businesses that are not located on Lewis Avenue will be setting up booths in the new downtown wi-fi park.
In addition, the River City Theatre Company will be hosting a pumpkin carving contest at the park, which is open to all ages.
All carved, painted, and other decorated pumpkins will be on display at the park. People can drop off their pumpkin and completed entry form on Oct. 30 at Marketplace Foods or on Oct. 31 between 2-4 p.m. at the park.
Prizes will be awarded in several categories, and people will be able to vote for their favorite pumpkin during the trick-or-treat hours. Winners will be announced on RCTC’s Facebook page (facebook.com/watertownrctc) on Halloween after all votes have been counted.
Please not that several traffic restrictions will be in effect at the intersection of Lewis Avenue and Territorial Street during trick-or-treating. While traffic will be allowed downtown during those hours, no left turns onto Lewis Avenue will be allowed from Territorial Street in an attempt to relieve traffic backups that have accumulated in past years.
