Waltraud G. Wally Schmitt, age 72, of Waconia, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial held Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church (41 E. First St.) in Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as celebrant of the Mass; visitation one hour prior to the Mass at church; interment Church Cemetery.
Waltraud was born on March 5, 1941 in Berlin, Germany the daughter of Artur and Flora (Jazinski) Rosenow. On Aug. 13 and 14 of 1965, Waltraud was united in marriage to Lennis F. Schmitt in Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Waltraud was a loving wife and mother. She had an affection for cats, taking in strays on a regular basis. Wally enjoyed watching older movies and the food channel. She always was up for reading a good book, playing a game of cards, working out in the garden and going out on the lake for a day of fishing.
Waltraud was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law Ray Schmitt; nephew David Schmitt.
Waltraud is survived by her loving family husband Lennis; sons Joshua Schmitt of St. Bonifacius, Ryan Schmitt of Waconia; sister Christa Masonaw and special friend Hans of Germany; mother-in-law Eugenia Jean Schmitt of Waconia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gary and Donna Schmitt of Waconia, Lynette and Mark Gilliland of Bloomington, Janice and Larry Wirtz of Waconia, Chuck and Pam Schmitt of Chaska; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
