Rotary Gourmet Dinner

Reserve your space for the annual Waconia-West Carver Rotary Gourmet Wine Dinner (to be held Jan. 18) by contacting a Rotary member. Silent and Live Auction items, a raffle, recognition of a community member for community Service Above Self Award and, of course, a mouth-watering menu of gourmet delights with wine pairings.

Community Band

Join the Waconia Area Community Band, which practices from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. at Waconia High School on Wednesday evenings. Nick VanDuzee is excited to conduct music so that members are inspired to play and their experience is both musically and personally worthwhile. Info: (952) 686-1440.

THURSDAY, OCT. 24 – James Albinson will present “Artifacts and Stories of WW II and the German Resistance”    from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Chaska City Hall / Library. See meaningful and rare artifacts of WW II; hear stories of the German Resistance and more. Info: (952) 448-3886.

Zion Trunk or Treat

FRIDAY, OCT. 25 – Zion Lutheran Church and School in Cologne (two miles south of Hwy 212 on CR 153) will hold Trunk or Treat from 6:30 to 8 p.m. where children can trick or treat from decorated trunks in parking lot. Concessions available (fundraiser for Washington, D.C. trip). Public welcome.

H’ween Spooktacular

FRIDAY, OCT. 25 – The Halloween Charity Spooktacular will be held at Taylor Hubbard Photography (44 West 1st Street, Waconia) from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Families can bring in three food or hygiene items and receive a 4×6 portrait of their little ghost or ghoul in costume (limit one per family) to benefit the Waconia United Food Shelf. VFW Steak Fry

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – The Waconia VFW will hold a steak fry at the clubhouse in Waconia, 125 First St. W., from 5 to 8 p.m. Steak or chicken, baked and cheesy potatoes, cole slaws, dessert.

Nachito Herrera concert

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – Nachito Herrera will perform at the PAC at Watertown-Mayer High School at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at www.artsofcarvercounty.org.

Hanson’s Haunted Barn

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – Hanson’s Haunted Barn will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Hanson’s Fun Farm (14880 50th St.) in Mayer. Wagon rides through the haunted woods from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Kid’s activities from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Haunted barn tours from 7 to 9 p.m., or until the line ends. Food donations for Friends For Life Food Shelf and monetary donations to Feed My Starving Children.

Freshwater comedy show

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – Internationally known comedian Leland Klassen will perform at 7 p.m. at Freshwater Community Church in St. Boni. Show sponsored by Freshwater Student Ministries, with profits supporting Student Missions. Tickets can be purchased at www.freshwaterchurch.org or at the Freshwater Church office, as well as at the door the night of the show.

Drug takeback event

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – Citizens of Carver County may drop off any unwanted prescriptions and medications during the Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at NYA and Watertown city halls and the Victoria Recreation Center Field House (permanent drop boxes are located at Chanhassen City Hall and the Carver County Sheriff’s Office).

Community Fall Festival

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – Waconia/St. Boni Girl Scouts invite you to their annual Fall Festival held at Safari Island from 4 to 7 p.m. Come in costume for a fun time playing carnival games and filling your bag with candy. Zion Fall Festival

Author’s Collective

SATURDAY, OCT. 26 – The Author’s Collective, held at 1 p.m. at the Chanhassen Library, provides authors an opportunity to gather and share a knowledge. Waconia FCA

SUNDAY, OCT. 27 – Waconia Fellowship of Christian Athletes will gather from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crown College for games, food and an encouraging message.

Mayer FD fish fry

SUNDAY, OCT. 27 – The Mayer Fire Department Relief Association will hold its all-you-can-eat fish fry from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mayer Community Center. Bake sale, fire truck rides, coloring contest and more. Pie available from the Zion Ladies Aid.

KC breakfast

SUNDAY, OCT. 27 – Knights of Columbus Council 2506 will serve a breakfast of pancakes, French toast and sausage from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph parish center in Waconia. Take out available. Proceeds are divided to the three parishes in the council: St.Bernards of Cologne, St. Joseph of Waconia and St.Victoria of Victoria.

Lutefisk Dinner

Immunization Clinic

MONDAY, OCT. 28 – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th St, Chaska) will hold an Immunization Clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Public Health provides immunizations to residents who don’t have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover immunizations.
