‘Countdown to Literacy’ event on Nov. 7

“Countdown to Literacy,” a special event presented by Kilee Christnagel and sponsored by Bayview PTO, Southview PTO and District 110 ECFE, will be held at Bayview Elementary School in Waconia from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. Enter through the north door and head to the multi-purpose room.
Did you know that literacy is a process that begins at birth? Literacy begins in oral form from the moment you say your baby’s name.
Christnagel will break down the main literacy components and make meaningful connections and examples for your child at every level from birth through third grade.
Literacy is a cumulative process and you will learn immediate, hands-on ways to promote literacy in your home through everyday play, routines and experiences.
Create a love of literacy in your home to help prepare your child for school and for life.
Christnagel has worked for the past 17 years in Minneapolis Public Schools as a Birth-Grade 6 teacher, Parent Educator and Literacy Coach. She does public speaking with various education and parent groups and operates the website startourkidsengines.com. Waconia welcomes Christnagel back by popular demand.
CEUs and childcare will be available. There is no cost to attend this event and childcare is available for $6 per child. Childcare registration must be received by Monday, Nov. 4.
