The 6th annual DEAR Hunting day in Waconia is coming up on Saturday, Nov. 9. This day is the creation of local shop owners who wanted to create an event to celebrate “hunting widows.”
There are 25 participating shops, bars and restaurants with specials.
In addition to all of the great sales and specials, there will be special events held in conjunction with the day, as well.
“Free Fashion Tips and Tricks” will be held at 10 a.m. at the Waconia Theatre with hair tips from Salon Trende; Tablescaping and chocolate tasting will occur at 11 a.m. at Yetzer’s featuring Curly Willow, The Wild Bird and Laketown Chocolates; and a Holiday Appetizer class with wine sampling will be held at Mackenthun’s Fine Foods at 1 p.m. featuring wine from Schram Vineyards.

DEAR on WCCO
On Monday, Oct. 28, Mike Binkley of WCCO was in Waconia to film an upcoming Finding Minnesota episode featuring the Waconia Chamber’s DEAR Hunting Day.
The piece will air on Sunday, Nov. 3 during the 10 p.m. newscast on Channel 4, WCCO.
According to Kellie Sites, president of the Waconia Chamber of Commerce, Waconia was selected out of many towns in Minnesota featuring shopping on the firearm deer hunting opener because of our use of blaze orange and hunting themes.
The next Waconia Chamber of Commerce Luncheon will be held at Island View Dining in Waconia on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The luncheon will feature Stevie Ray from Stevie Ray’s Improv Company. He will be presenting “The Guest Experience, Building customer loyalty and employee engagement.” The cost to attend the luncheon is $25 for Chamber members and $30 for non-members.
The luncheon lasts from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please RSVP to the Waconia Chamber of Commerce by Friday, Nov. 15 at firstname.lastname@example.org, (952) 442-5812 or www.destinationwaconia.org.
