Calling all artists for Arboretum ‘Minnesota Magic’ juried exhibit

New and longtime members of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum are invited to submit paintings depicting the natural beauty and majesty of the North Star state for a “Minnesota Magic” juried art exhibit planned for Jan. 17-March 31. The show will be displayed in the Arboretum’s Reedy Gallery.
Paintings must be original oils, watercolors, acrylics or pastels. Art entries must be framed (with wire ready for hanging). Entries will be accepted by email at [email protected] or as images on CDs. Actual entries may be taken to the Wilcock Gallery at 218 Water St. in Excelsior (952-470-8118). There’s a non-refundable entry fee of $20 for the first painting and $10 for each additional painting. The juried competition is open to Arboretum members only (memberships start at $49). Deadline for entering is Monday, Dec. 2.
Need a little extra incentive? Keith Wilcock, gallery owner and watercolor artist, will conduct a “Minnesota Magic Fine-Arts Preparation Workshop” on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Arboretum’s Learning Center. Topics will include: how to choose a subject, plan your painting strategy, select a color scheme and composition and more. Bring your equipment for watercolor or oil painting and plan on an intensive art experience. Fee for this member-only class is $75. Register for the art workshop and save $5 on the first entry fee.
Register at or call (952) 443-1422.
