Ward Holasek

Ward E. Holasek, age 76, of Waconia, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Abbott NW Hospital in Minneapolis.
A visitation will be held at 12 p.m. and Memorial Service at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia with Pastor Rod Anderson officiating.
Ward was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Minneapolis, to Alvin and Anna (Bren) Holasek.
Ward attended school in Hopkins graduating from Eisenhower in 1954. He then attended the Univ. of MN on an FFA agricultural scholarship, graduating with an agriculture degree in 1956.
He worked on the family farm in Eden Prairie milking dairy cows, making hay and helping to run the family milk truck service. He later took over the farm and converted from cows to all horses in 1966.
Ward married Georgene Hill in 1961 and they had two sons.
Ward and his family moved to Waconia in 1975 where they ran Rock Isle Farms.
Ward was a horseman and was extensively involved in showing Arabian horses as well as Percheron draft horses locally and nationally. He gave hay and sleigh rides on his farm and also drove teams of horses with different buggies, wagons and sleighs at numerous events.
He was very active in the Waconia Rotary club.
Ward is survived by his loving family: sons and daughters-in-law Wade and Lori Holasek of Waconia, Rick and Kristine Holasek of Honolulu, Hawaii; grandchildren Nicole, Weston and Rozlyn Holasek; Alexander Holasek; brother and sister-in-law Dean and Mary Holasek of Eden Prairie; sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Dick Smith of Oregon; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Donations can be made to the Ward Holasek Memorial Fund.
