ORDINANCE NO. 673
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING
SECTION 900.12, SUBD. 4, OF
THE WACONIA CITY CODE
The City Council of the City of Waconia ordains:
The following official summary of Ordinance 673 has been approved by a four-fifths vote of the City Council of the City of Waconia as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance:
CITY OF WACONIA ORDINANCE 673, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 900.12, SUBD. 4, OF THE WACONIA CITY CODE REGARDING VARIANCES, amends Section 900.12, Subd. 4, of the Waconia City Code, which addresses variances to the City of Waconias zoning regulations. As revised, the ordinance now provides that an applicant for a variance must show practical difficulties in complying with the zoning regulations that justify the variance. A variance may not be granted to permit a use not otherwise allowed, and the variance must be found to be in harmony with the Citys zoning regulations and comprehensive plan. Each variance application is submitted to the Citys Planning Commission for a public hearing and review before it is referred to the City Council, which acts as the Citys Board of Appeals and Adjustments. If a variance is denied, the applicant is provided with the reasons for the denial.
When the summary is published, the publication shall indicate that the published material is only a summary and that the full text of the ordinance is available for public inspection at a designated location or by standard or electronic mail.
This ordinance is effective upon publication.
