The Mayer Lutheran dance team won the jazz division of the Minnesota River Conference’s first meet of the season on Dec. 19 at LHS. With a rank score of 3, the Crusaders defeated all other conference teams. NYA Central was second with a rank score of 7, followed by Belle Plaine (8) and Jordan (12).

The Crusaders received their first “8” of the season, which is very good under the new scoring system, according to LHS head coach Maryann Porter.

“Our score improved eight points from our BOLD meet, which was just five days ago,” she said. “We made some minor changes to our routine and it helped us improve our difficulty scores.”

Belle Plaine won the high kick division, followed by Mayer Lutheran in second with a score of 6. Central was third (9) and Jordan finished fourth (12).

The Crusaders will return to the competition floor on Jan. 7 at Jordan for the second of three MRC meets this season.

“We will be on break now for two weeks and it is a good time for the athletes to let their bodies rest,” Porter said.
