The Watertown-Mayer/Waconia/Delano boys’ swimming and diving team finished in eighth place at the Laker Invite at St. Catherine University in St. Paul on Saturday, Dec. 21.
WMWD finished with 140 points. Chaska/Chanhassen, which won the meet, finished with 478.5 points to finish ahead of Anoka, which took second with 395 points.
The best individual finish on the day for the Royals belonged to Zach Holman, who took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.89 seconds. Holman also finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.41 seconds.
Jack Dalluge also had a pair of top 10 finishes for the Royals. He was eighth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.42, and he took 10th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.40.
Tristan Gens finished fourth in diving for the Royals. He finished with 201.5 points.
Ben DeSutter had a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.45. He also was 15th in the 200-yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:16.94.
Jake Weber also had a pair of top-15 finishes. He was 12th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.99 seconds, and he was 14th in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.19 seconds.
The Royals’ top relay on the day was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Dalluge, DeSutter, Brent Unowsky and Holman teamed up to finish with a time of 3:40.10.
The Royals now have an extended break until Saturday, Jan. 4, when they’ll take part in the Maroon and Gold Invitational at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
