WMHS girls win Cloquet Tournament

The Watertown-Mayer girls’ basketball team won the championship of the Cloquet tournament during Christmas break, beating Bemidji in the first round on Friday, Dec. 27, and Cloquet, 57-56, on Saturday, Dec. 28.

The Royals opened the tournament with a 54-48 win over Bemidji. They won the championship with a tight 57-56 win over Cloquet.

No stats were available from the tournament as of press time.

The Royals will return to action Friday, Jan. 3, at New London-Spicer. They’ll also take the court Saturday, Jan. 4, when they host Rockford at 7:30 p.m., and again on Tuesday, Jan. 7, when the Royals travel to take on Litchfield, also at 7:30 p.m.
