Hilton Paul Schwalbe, age 88, of Buffalo, Minn., passed away at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, Minn., on Dec. 30, 2013. Funeral service on Saturday, Jan 4, 2014 at 1 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo. Visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment Watertown Cemetery, Watertown, Minn.
Hilton was born on Feb. 13, 1925 to Paul and Louise (Hasse) Schwalbe in Laketown Township, Carver County, Minn. He was baptized on Feb. 3, 1929 and confirmed on April 5, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, Minn. He graduated from Watertown High School. Hilton served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946. He married Lyla Kuenzel on Jan. 29, 1948 at Evangelical Reformed Church in Lester Prairie, Minn. He was a very astute businessman. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, puzzles, playing cards and fishing.
Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise Schwalbe, son, Guy Schwalbe, two sisters, Loretta Jopp and Anita Zastow, brothers-in-law, Vernon Jopp, Alden Jopp, Wilbur Zastow, Roy Ketcher, sister-in-law, Lorraine Schwalbe.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Lyla Schwalbe of Otsego, Minn.; son, Owen Schwalbe of St. Michael, Minn.; daughters, Gail (Dennis )Trittabaugh of Delano, Minn., Faye (Carl) Rothenberger of Delano, and Donna (Jeff) Krueger of Otsego; grandchildren, Roger (Michelle) Wolter, Lori (Joe Hoglund) Wolter, Jennifer Trittabaugh, Michael (Andrea)Trittabaugh, Justin Krueger and Ryan Krueger; great-grandchildren, Samantha Trittabaugh, Taylor Hoglund, Anthony Trittabaugh & Lance Hoglund; brother, Harold Schwalbe of Waconia, Minn.; sisters, Irene Jopp of Mayer, Minn., & Verna Ketcher of Rockford, Ill.
