Mayer News for Jan. 9

The Mayer Moves for Moxie program will start Jan. 16 at the Mayer Community Center. Call the city offices to make your intentions known about joining the program. Give Lois a call at 952-657-1502.

Christmas tree disposal

All Saturdays in the month of January, you can bring your live Christmas trees to the compost site during hours of operation, which are 8 a.m. to noon. Be sure to take all ornaments, lights, tinsel, and plastic bags off. Do not bring wreathes or artificial trees, as these do not compose. The garbage man will not take your spent tree.

The compost site will remain open year round on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon, at which time you can bring recycle items, aluminum and tin cans, glass, paper, cardboard and plastic items with the recycle emblem. The compost site is located just west of the city on County Road 30.

Other dates of importance

Now that the holidays are over, we will be back on schedule for garbage pick up, which will be Friday, Jan. 10. Have bins curbside by 7 a.m.

Members of the Mayer City Council will have a meeting on Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
